FINALLY – something new and different for the Salisbury music scene.

Eyes and Ears consisted of three ambient musical acts accompanied by projected experimental film.

The first act was Adam Varney performing as Finglebone, who also organised and hosted the event.

Finglebone combined ambient field recordings with melodic, free-ranging guitar and acoustic, melancholic singing.

The visuals for Finglebone’s set were a mixture of Adam’s own artwork and biology slides.

The combination of the art-house patterns and his dynamically ranging set took the audience on a compelling journey.

The second and final acts both travelled from Bristol to perform.

Microdeform consisted of samplers, record players, midi keyboards and effects, controlled by a man who had clearly mastered the trade.

It was clear from the start that Microdeform had an impressive knowledge of sound design, using innovative techniques to create a wide range of noises in a beautifully chaotic set.

The final act was Twin, a wash of delayed guitar and ethereal vocals inspired by Indian raga singing – an incredibly impressive but slightly linear set.

Altogether it was a fantastic evening, enjoyed by all.

More of these events are being planned and would be a welcome addition to the music scene.
