A FESTIVAL of folk and family fun is set to return for a sixth year.

Having recently retained its title as the UK’s Best Countryside Festival at the Fatea Music Awards, Purbeck Folk Festival is lining up four days of folk, food, film, fancy dress and fun.

Having previously attracted the likes of KT Tunstall, Show of Hands, The Carrivick Sisters and Karine Polwart, the festival will again run over the late August Bank Holiday weekend at Wilkswood Farm, a working sheep farm in Langton Matravers.

In addition to music on four stages there will be a host of extra entertainment on offer including a comedy lineup, an on-site cinema, a fancy dress parade, art workshops, a poetry slam and a beer festival with 40 local real ales, 20 ciders and even a Dorset pils lager, not forgetting the annual beardoff, with prizes awarded for the biggest, best and most creative facial hair.

Younger festival goers will find plenty to do in the kids’ activity pen including circus skills, magic shows, balloon modelling, face painting and street theatre.

Weekend tickets (Friday to Sunday), including camping, are on sale now at £80, or £40 for 12 to 17 year olds, and £10 for four to 11 year olds. Under 4s go free.
