A NEW musical collaboration hits the venues of Salisbury this week - at The Music Box on Thursday and at the Duck on Friday.

The Midnight Flyers comprises musicians from various local acts, including Gary Holton, Colin Holton, Chalky White, Steve Collinson and Neil Dalziel.

The band will be performing a mixture of originals and covers, with support at the Duck from Lucas Hardy and Sonny Collinson. Both events are free to enter.

And the weekend will see The Chapel Nightclub go back in time to the 90s.

The club will be a sea of décor and fancy dress from the decade, and there will be some giveaways.

* Easter Sunday saw The Winchester Gate packed to the rafters as a line-up of local musicians performed in aid of Children With Cancer UK.

The event raised £209 for the charity, with Lump, Johannasberg, Lily McCauley, Naomi Coombes, Dandelion & Burdock and Luke Hall performing.

* Saturday night will see a record launch for local act Jet Pack, Invicta!

The Old Ale House will host the event, with support from The St Pierre Snake Invasion and Fingermen. The EP, Savage Smiles, will be available from Monday.

* Thursday will see Pedal Folk perform at The Winchester Gate during their re-creation of the 1913 London to Somerset cycle trip made by poet and wordsmith Edward Thomas in his book In Pursuit Of Spring.

This Pedal Folk cycling music tour will see the trio performing at places Thomas passed through or nearby on his journey: London, Farnham, Winchester, Salisbury, Trowbridge, Glastonbury and Crowcombe.

* I am embarking on a 215-mile bike ride for Children With Cancer UK today.
