SINGER Lily McCauley fought off tough competition last weekend to reach this year's Larmer Tree Festival.

Performing at Bournemouth's 60 Million Postcards, the Wiltshire College student from Salisbury got the judges votes as this year’s Breakthrough Act.

She will join The Bleedin Noses at the festival. She said: "It was not only great to win but also to hear such encouraging feedback from the judges, other contenders and from many people in the audience.

“It has given me a massive boost in confidence and I'm very grateful to be given the opportunity."

n RUSSELL James (Young Brando) Tour Diary: James checks in to let us know how the band's tour with McBusted is going. He said: “I feel like I'm about to write a massive lie, but I'm reliably informed it's the truth: Young Brando (me and my chums) have played the O2 Arena twice. Unless I've been hallucinating again!

“It's been crazy, surreal, hectic and a brilliant start. The crowds have been rad, and we've been really pleased with the way things have gone so far.

“We are two weeks in and we have 26 shows still to go. Mad... but great!”
