THE first Deverills Festival has been hailed a resounding success.

More than 23 events took place across seven venues in the Deverill Valley from May 2 to 5, showcasing all types of music, drama, comedy, talks and guided walks.

All the villages pulled together in a show of community spirit to put the weekend on the festival map.

Richard Munro, festival director, said: “We set out to celebrate the performing arts and to offer professional quality music and drama to as many people as possible in a delightful environment and, importantly, at affordable prices. And we did!

“We are thrilled that the many festival goers were captivated by the variety of events and exceptional performances in unique rural venues, in such a beautiful setting.

“Will we do it again? Definitely.”
