LOCAL bands had a great weekend of music at Larmer Tree Festival.

Things got under way with a dazzling performance by Salisbury songbird Lily McCauley.

After winning the Larmer Tree Breakthrough Awards she shone brightly on the ARC Stage during her early Thursday afternoon set with standing room only as all seats were taken as people listened attentively to the Wiltshire College student.

Eyes for Gertrude were next up and once more the tent was full as Chantelle and Hannah, accompanied by a melodic arrangement of musicians, impressed the crowd. Their blend of folk peppered with country ensured the Rockbourne duo went down with acclaim.

Swindon three-piece Nudybronque took to the Big Top stage for the first of two performances, mixing energetic stage presence with experimental fusing which made their step up to the big stage a seamless transition.

The Intercepteurs headlined Salisbury Arts Centre’s stage on Friday drawing a sizable crowd as people made their way away from Frank Turner’s dazzling performance on the main stage.

Overcoming technical difficulties as the power momentarily went, they sent the masses into a dancing frenzy.
