Join The Lord Chamberlain’s Men this summer as they present Romeo and Juliet – the greatest love story ever told, presented as Shakespeare first saw it.

Following last year’s successful tour of As You Like It, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, leading proponents of open-air theatre for almost 20 years, return with Romeo and Juliet.

The production opened at the beginning of June before embarking on an extensive summer tour throughout the UK until September 3.

Romeo and Juliet will form part of the Salisbury International Arts Festival, with performances in Salisbury on June 9 and 10,

For this unique theatrical experience, audiences are encouraged to bring a chair, a picnic and a glass of something chilled as the show promises to be another authentic, excellent and magical treat from the company that brought you the “funny and faithful” As You Like It last summer.

Artistic Director and Producer, Peter Stickney, said, “Seeing a production from The Lord Chamberlain’s Men is a unique experience. Sitting under the same stars that Shakespeare did and seeing his plays performed as he first saw them – with an all male cast, in the open air and with Elizabethan costume, music and dance – is intoxicating.

"The productions are clear, bold and accessible without being dumbed down in anyway. I strongly believe that seeing one of Shakespeare’s plays shouldn’t be an “elite sport” and I hope that the style of our shows, our consistently reasonable ticket prices, and the sense of welcome you get at our performances enhance that feeling. If you’ve ever thought that Shakespeare isn’t for you, give one of our shows a try and hopefully we will change your mind!”

With Authenticity, Excellence and Magic as the watchwords of the company, audiences new and old can expect a summer treat in the fresh air of a great British summer, as The Lord Chamberlain’s Men bring their own special brand of all male Shakespeare to venues throughout the country. Don’t miss this brilliant company perform Shakespeare as he first saw it; all male, in the open air and with Elizabethan costume, music and dance
