Pot hole problems

I RECEIVED a letter from Wiltshire Council, regarding a claim I made due to major damage to my wheel and tyre after hitting a pothole on the road from Old Castle to Ford.

I filled in a claim form and supplied an invoice and photos of the road and the damaged wheel and tyre, sent this back and was sent a letter confirming receipt and that it would take 28 days to investigate.

When I received the results of the investigation, I was amazed at the general lack of any commitment or concern for anything I had written. They basically stated that they had covered themselves because they had inspected the road in September and found no faults so were unable to offer compensation.

I would suggest the weather was a lot warmer in September so the surface would have not been frozen and prone to break up.

Someone must be accountable for the poor and shoddy repair work which is being seen.

Consider what would have happened if it was a motorbike that hit the pothole - we would not be talking about a small bit of inconvenience, rather a major incident.

The council might have a limited budget, but so do I, and it is now £45-plus lighter through no fault of my own other than having to drive to and from work to earn a living and pay my bills.
