Speed limit is there as a maximum not a minimum

WITH reference to Lyn Robson’s observations about speeding drivers and her school (Postbag, February 7).
It seems that in our ‘dumbed down’ and discourteous society, many motorists don’t know that speed limits state the maximum speed, when conditions allow, not the minimum.
Until the police, Wiltshire Council and the highways authorities can find a way to break the mindset that speeding is ok, non-motorised road users can expect to continue to be killed, maimed, injured and shocked, when going about their business in our built up areas.
