Opinions divided on bus stations

I THINK Mr Rhind-Tutt’s idea for the bus station (Journal, February 21) is fantastic; a golden opportunity that must not be lost.
Think of what we could do, a nice little café, nice toilets - perhaps we could even include one of the empty nightclubs, a little tourist shop even. And it would be easier to get to the cathedral. As a guide in the cathedral, I get very upset when elderly people, some with sticks, come in after walking from the coach park, in some cases getting lost through poor sign posts.
They are nearly in tears and say we have only got 20 minutes then we have to go all the way back.
We claim to be a tourist city, so let’s cater for them.

ON reading in the Journal what a Salisbury business group has in mind for our bus station and tourists being the top priority, what about us customers who support the town trade all year?
An example is our rural area; we don’t have a clue what’s happening to our bus service.
Where will we board the bus?
We will have to stand on a pavement in all weathers or change buses, relying on them to be on time for our connections. Wake up Salisbury and make our trip to your town a pleasure instead of a nightmare. We have been loyal customers for years and deserve a pleasant trip into the city centre without the hassle of changing buses or standing out in the cold and wet.
Maybe tourists are important, but don’t forget we are your bread and butter, so please tell us what’s in store for us.
