New homes plan should incorporate supermarket

READING the report biggest development for Fugglestone Red, I notice there was no mention of a supermarket.

I was wondering if the council have considered a supermarket as well as a primary school etc.

We are in desperate need of a supermarket this side of town now, let alone when we get another 1,250 homes.

We have to currently travel across town to Southampton (nightmare) Road or Sainsbury’s, which is now too small for Salisbury.

When I mean supermarket I don’t mean a local store. We need a proper size supermarket.

It would save the roads and traffic jams going in the same direction just to do the weekly shop.

It would make sense to have an out of town supermarket north of the city. It would help to relieve the Southampton road trunk route bottleneck. It might provide the odd job or two as well.

I agree, It makes perfect sense to have a supermarket on the north side, it's quicker if you live in Wilton to travel to Warminster or Amesbury rather than having to make it across town then to the dreaded southampton road! Just think how many journeys this would save!

An initial proposal now with the Area Board for a 65 room hotel next to Tesco - Southampton road. Therefore could be room to stay the night if the traffic becomes more of a problem!
Will be interesting to see what is proposed on this site - the P&Ride bus could transfer guests from the city /and rail station.
