REGARDING Mr Curbishley’s letter (Postbag, August 22), I am rather confused.
What difference does it make whether the House of Commons is sitting or not? I would have thought the ‘people in the street’ would still be just as interested in what is going on in their respective constituencies and what their elected MP is involved with.
It seems to me there is plenty of room in the Journal pages without having to politicise all in one area, as Mr Curbishley suggests. Especially now, with the improved layout.
In reference to the second paragraph of his letter, about “thinly veiled propaganda” by our local MPs – it can’t have been that thinly veiled as it seems he saw through it.
And finally, regarding the last paragraph, a lesser paper would have shrunk from printing it.
Thank goodness the Journal did not. He seemed to be trying for a grand slam finish. It didn’t work.
I thought it was rather pathetic and sad.
