Come to Hillcote public meeting
2:10pm Wednesday 23rd October 2013 in Letters
I WROTE on August 3 about my dismay at the proposed closure of Hillcote in April next year.
As many know, this is the respite care home for severely learning disabled children, serving south Wiltshire. If this proposal is carried out, this particular and essential service for a small number of vulnerable families will only be available in Devizes.
Since August, I have formed a committee with some of the mothers and we have been very active in the last two and a half months.
Last week we met with senior staff from Wiltshire Council and they have agreed to a public meeting in the Guildhall on Wednesday, November 6 at 10.30am.
I would urge any parent, sibling, grandparent or friend who has an interest in day and overnight care for learning disabled children to attend the meeting. Representatives of Wiltshire Council and the Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group will be there to present their case. I want them to understand the depth of feeling of the people of south Wiltshire over this matter.
ANGELA SCOTT Chairman, Save Hillcote
