I’D like thank Jane Scott, leader of Wiltshire Council for clearing up few of my misconceptions.
I recently met with her and expressed my feelings about the proposed closure of the Hillcote respite home.
I have a sister who has Down’s syndrome and respite is something that really helps my mother and many other families.
Cllr Scott was very understanding and reassured me that she will do her utmost to keep Hillcote open until it comes to a point where there is no one using the facility.
And another thing to note is that the Christmas market, which we all appreciate, is principally funded by Wiltshire Council.
So it’s not all bad news from Wiltshire Council.

MY family would like to express our thanks to the couple who helped my mother when she tripped badly in the Wilton car park last Wednesday, December 11. Your kindness and care were much appreciated, as well as maintaining her dignity as a normally able and independent elderly woman. She is fine but the black eyes, and bruises will be colouring our Christmas week.
Again, thank you.
LORNA HARTLEY, Suffolk
THANK you so much for such a lovely write-up of our Pantomime, Mother Goose (Journal, November 28). It was a great picture and perfect supporting article.
I am very pleased to report that following good ticket sales this year, we are able to donate £1,000 to the Salisbury District Hospital’s CT Scanner Campaign.
