Bah-humbug to rubbish collections

First published in Letters

HOW mean-spirited our local council is to impose restrictions on how much rubbish they would collect just before Christmas.

I am told if my dustbin lid does not close, it will not be collected, with great care this Christmas my lid did close, but that is only because I burned my rubbish in a solid fuel range, and a huge bin bag of foil wrapping paper made a great Boxing Day bonfire.

I recycled what I could, but I refuse to get in my car to take excess rubbish to the dump.

How green is a council that transported van after van through Woodfalls on Christmas Eve to take fallen tree rubbish to a landfill site, but begrudges us a little excess waste at Christmas time, at a time when we have to wait longer than a fortnight for our rubbish to be collected?
