ON visiting the market on Tuesday I was delighted to find that a new ice rink had been installed in front of the Guildhall.
Unfortunately, gathering by the way shoppers were endeavouring to negotiate it, this was not planned and was caused by the freezing temperature.
When installing the new market square did nobody have the foresight to realise that the type of paving laid in the area of the Guildhall in particular would be lethal when frosty?
Also, I understand that when the market traders asked for the market area to be gritted/salted a council employee advised that it was not their responsibility. Whose is it then?
