HOW sad it is when a planning application gets the go ahead on the basis that “Salisbury says ‘no’ too often”.
Almost everyone on the southern area planning committee agreed the design for the proposed hotel in Castle Street was not good, but sadly too many didn’t have the bottle to say no to Tesco/Spenhill Developments and to tell them: “You need to go back to the drawing board and come up with a better design for our lovely city, because this design is not good enough for Salisbury.”
Well done, Richard Clewer, Brian Dalton, Richard Britten and a few others who tried very hard to make the others see sense, and shame on the rest of you who voted for this proposal, for being so shortsighted and too scared to take on the big boys on behalf of Salisbury.
But, then, not many of you live in Salisbury, so you may not care.
