Councillors should try exposed bus stops

First published in Letters

MUCH has been written in the local press about the closure of Amesbury bus station and the lack of bus shelters.

I would like to invite the councillors of Wiltshire Council to join us bus users in Amesbury between January and April to stand in a glorified lay-by through wind, rain, snow and anything else the weather can throw at us.

Would they like to park their cars and generous mileage allowances and travel through the winter months with us?

Surely when the tender for the contract was put in for the work someone noticed from the start that the bus shelters were not included?

We have pensioners, disabled people like myself and children queuing for buses in all weather.

Saying this is an oversight is not a good enough excuse from paid council professionals.

Frankly it is not good enough.
