Flats’ great position

First published in Letters

With reference to your front page report regarding the retirement home plan for the former bus station, I note the remarks of city councillor James Robertson stating that it would be much better to build it in the leafy suburbs.

I totally disagree, people over 60 are, in the main, still very active and I am sure would be very happy to be within walking distance of all Salisbury has to offer, ie shops, restaurants, cathedral and the Market Place, to name but a few, without the problem of running a car or relying on public transport from the “leafy suburbs”!

I think building retirement homes on this derelict eyesore is an excellent idea.
