Yobs continue reign of car vandalism

IN response to the news story in last week’s Journal of antisocial behaviour “coming to an end”.

I totally disagree and I’m sure a lot of the other law-abiding residents of Bemerton Heath felt the same way when they read it!

Who told Inspector Andy Noble this? Does he live up here? Is he patrolling up here on Friday and Saturday nights when the yobs are outside our houses shooting the streetlights out with catapults, vandalising our cars and generally making our lives a misery?

The report states that car crime is down by 36 offences. Really? What about the 30 or more acts of vandalism caused to vehicles in Woodside Road and the surrounding area the week before Christmas?

These were not incidents of car owners leaving valuables in their cars and then being broken into, this was vandalism by drunken yobs, pure and simple.

And, to date, five weeks later we still have not been updated as to whether anyone has been caught and charged.

This weekend has brought yet another spate of vandalism in Woodside Road, where we had to stand outside our properties at 1am in the morning in order to protect our vehicles and property from drunken youths, who, yet again, have damaged vehicles.

I have lived on this estate for 25 years and have never known it to be this bad.

Antisocial behaviour may have been improved in Gainsborough Close, but the yobs have just moved up to Woodside Road to carry on their reign of vandalism.

Don't hold your breath for the police to actually do any thing about the vandals IF they were to catch them.... there is no revenue in it for them so they won't be bothered or, if they do and the yobs get to court the magistrate will let them off. That is what happened when my car was written off by idiots a couple of years ago in Devizes Road.
