Ashley Road green ruined by cars

GIVEN that last year saw the second wettest summer on record and the start of this year has seen more snow and rain, who on earth permitted use of the Ashley Road green as a car park on Sunday?

The green hadn’t recovered from the last inappropriate use, and Sunday saw parts of it churned up so badly it resembles a First World War battle scene.

Mud and gravel has been spread across Ashley Road, which must also constitute a hazard to road users.

I am not against raising money for charity but surely common sense should have prevailed and alternative car parking arrangements made for the boot sale.

I only hope that the council, which I assume gave permission for the green to be used as a car park, will rectify the damage and re-seed the green so it is suitable for recreational purposes should we have a summer this year.
