Many thanks

IN January 2013 I was admitted to Salisbury District Hospital, after being attended at home by initially a first responder, then by a paramedic and finally an ambulance team that took me into A&E in Salisbury.

The doctor who had attended me earlier that day at home had assured us I had a chest infection but later that evening I collapsed, which culminated in the emergency services being called.

From the initial call to the ambulance service to leaving the hospital some 20 days later I can only express my thankfulness at being treated so very well.

I was admitted to the intensive care unit where I was diagnosed as having contracted swine flu, complicated by pneumonia.

I had an extremely high temperature and was critical. It was decided that I would be sedated, which lasted 13 days.

It was scary for my family and even more so for me since I experienced awful hallucinations and bad dreams.

However, the care and expertise of the A&E (which I had to visit twice after my discharge) and ICU was outstanding.

On February 16 we held a Valentine Dinner Disco at Morgan’s Vale and Woodfalls Village Hall and are pleased to announce that we raised £1,722 in aid of the Salisbury Hospice.

We would like to thank everyone who came along to support us, and a special thank you to everyone who helped us make this event such a success.
