Thanks for supporting event
9:57am Thursday 5th September 2013 in Postbag
I HAD the huge privilege and pleasure of opening and closing the fantastic Summer Spectacular at Hudson’s Field. Through the Journal, I would like to thank everyone who came along to enjoy a wonderful family day out.
As well as local residents, I met families from Fordingbridge, Southampton, Tidworth and Warminster who all told me how much they were enjoying the varied programme of the day. The fireworks were brilliant.
A major event of this scale takes a lot of planning and executing but Salisbury City Council worked tirelessly to create this day in partnership with Wiltshire Council, which provided vital support. The weather was kind and Salisbury can be proud.
Thank you to all involved in making it happen, to all the participants and to everyone who turned up in support. In addition, I also want to praise everyone who worked with the clearing up party on Sunday. As I walked over the site a few days later, there was hardly any evidence that such a large event had taken place. Hudson’s Field had been quickly restored to the glorious open space that it is.
Very many thanks and roll on next year’s Salisbury Summer Spectacular.
PENNY BROWN, Mayor of Salisbury
