FOLLOWING on from the coalition government’s 5p tax on plastic bags, can I please thank the thousands of Salisbury and Wiltshire people who’ve actively supported SCRAP (Salisbury City Residents Action on Plastic) in the last seven years.
These are notably two MPs and one MEP, all the councillors, Pam Roquette of Agenda21, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, three ex-mayors, two bishops of Salisbury, all the Salisbury schools who have just helped us give a guaranteed sustainable cotton bag to more than 2,000 school children (see the winning entries at The Guildhall) as well as all the local media.
This will reduce the landfill tax that everyone has to pay and ensure a better quality environment for years to come.
TONY LANGHAM, Founder/co-ordinator SCRAP – Salisbury City Residents Action on Plastic
I WOULD like to say a very big thank you to the paramedics for looking after me when I collapsed at home. They were wonderful.
We are very lucky with Salisbury District Hospital.
