THE traffic problems relating to the A303/A344 between Amesbury and Devizes have been well documented.
However, as a regular user, I would ask when are the consultants/designers/ contractors being brought to task over failing to provide an improved solution?
Surely the council should be claiming against the relevant parties’ professional indemnity insurance for their failure to provide a workable design?
As usual the taxpayer (road and income) is the loser.
Also, as the long tailbacks both east and westbound seem to be compounded by drivers ‘rubber necking’ at the Stones, a 3m high screen, blocking the view, parallel with the A303 and the Stones, would be cheaper than any more future ‘designer’ solutions.
Failing that use the Stones as bridge supports for a flyover.
