'Alternative station' is a bad idea
3:46pm Wednesday 25th September 2013 in Postbag
I CANNOT agree with Craig Ford (Postbag, September 19) that there is lots of room for a permanent arrangement for an “alternative bus station” using the Millstream Coach Park off of Castle Street.
On most weekdays from 11am to 5pm there are usually 20 or more coaches of local and long distance visitors, some from Europe, parked there, certainly from March to October.
With a total of 24 spaces into which often 12-wheel British and foreign coaches have to manage to park, where will the buses park, wait or load/unload?
Perhaps the Maltings plans to abolish all tourist coaches in the city and make them park out at Petersfinger or Britford Park and Rides.
Is that, after all, the real aim?
