public thank you to the citizens of Salisbury for looking after my 86-year-old, very distressed mother.
On a recent day trip to Salisbury, not for the first time visiting your lovely city, she misjudged how long it would take her from the cathedral to the coach pick up point and arrived seven minutes late.
The coach had already left.
Instead of taking advantage and driving my mother to Weymouth, as requested, a local taxi driver lent my mother his mobile so that she could phone home.
While I arranged for the coach to return to pick her up, the driver made sure she was left in the care of Sue at the Burger Kiosk at the Millstream Coach Park.
Sue looked after her as though she were her own family; made sure she was comfortable and warm and reassured her.
While she waited for the coach, two of your kind-hearted taxi drivers kept checking in to make sure that she was all right.
My mother and I are both extremely grateful to these wonderfully kind people who made what could have been a dreadful ordeal, a positive experience.
We will now always think of Salisbury and its people as being very special indeed.

MY faith in humanity is restored.
I am an 80-year-old, disabled widower.
On November 28 I lost my wallet, containing more than £50, which I had withdrawn to pay a bill, in Salisbury.
I immediately rebuked myself on my own carelessness, and never thought to see it again, bearing in mind the pressures on us all at this time of year, when everyone needs the money.
So I was really surprised and happy when Lin Cavanagh of Somerset Road, having made two unsuccessful trips to my home, deposited it, complete and intact at Salisbury Police Station.
Such honesty is to be commended in these straightened times.

I WOULD like to say a very big thank you to those who were involved in the show my mother and I went to see on Saturday, November 30 at the City Hall in Salisbury.
The production of Oliver! by Musical Theatre Salisbury was fantastic.
A big well done to all of the cast.
We had a wonderful time and it left us both singing all the way home.
