Food draws people in to festive markets

HAVING lived in Germany for 13 years I understand very well what a good Christmas market is all about, so a series of decorated sheds selling over priced goods you could buy pretty much locally in Salisbury is not too impressive.

It’s the food that really lets it down.

The prices are too high for what you get – £4 for a bratwurst in a roll is too high!

My advice is go to Birmingham’s Christmas market and see how it should be done – it’s superb - and even Portsmouth’s and Southampton’s are better and more authentic.

Well bully for you! Salisbury is new to the Christmas market scene and may have more to learn.

I didn't visit the market but passing through Blue Boar it looked very busy and has indeed been reported to be most popular.

You may well be correct concerning the prices but that may be addressed in the future. There will always be bigger and better elsewhere but at least Salisbury has a Christmas Market many places do not!
