A GROUP of friends saw Gaslight at Salisbury Playhouse on Monday evening and could hardly believe your reviewer (Journal, February 13) had seen the same production.
We were delighted with the performance.
We found the tension was maintained throughout, the setting atmospheric and authentic, and all the actors gave fine performances, particularly in the roles of Sergeant Rough and the housekeeper.
I canvassed opinion from three other sets of friends, ranging in age from 23 to 80 - a total of 11 people - who saw the play on other occasions, and all were unanimous in their approval and enjoyment.
We are very proud, and fond, of our Playhouse in Salisbury and would wish to keep it flourishing and full; but a damning review like this would certainly deter many from coming.
