Sculptures are a health and safety hazard

First published in Postbag

LAST time our cathedral got into sculpture we had some objects there that looked very much like enormous 'twirly', half licked cones of ice cream.

They had a certain charm and I particularly liked the sensuousness, colour and feel of them. I am afraid to my untutored eye the latest offerings in the Close, called Sanctuary for some artistic, but otherwise obscure reason, look as though a lorry has shed its load. The vehicle has been recovered but the stones await collection.

On a serious note, they are surely a health and safety hazard for young scramblers.

So, for both reasons, can somebody recover these stones as soon as possible and them to a place of sanctuary? I suggest a quiet landfill site.
