WHAT a joy to read the letter from JM. English regarding the ridiculous political ties to what I also understand is referred to as Trowbridgeshire.
I have never had reason to go to anywhere north of Stonehenge for either business or social reasons, but Winchester, Southampton, and Dorset’s seaside locations, all classified as Wessex, are all within 40 to 60 minutes drive.
Maybe we should be asking those who claim to stand for us, in local and national government, when they come calling for our vote in May, quite why they are having to travel over the Plain to discuss issues which affect us here in southern Wiltshire?
How many of us use Wiltshire as part of our address, now we are all postcoded?
Could we not become better associated with New Forest District Council?
We could immediately, broaden tourist related issues together, and at least the bus routes merge, via Ringwood and Romsey.
This would join up a vast area of ‘Wessexshire’.
This could even reduce our council tax and expensive travel claims for over-paid councilors to attend evening council meetings?
Why is there no bus to Stockbridge and onto Winchester?
One an hour would be great, especially in the summer season.
See how popular the open top tourist buses are from Bournemouth to Swanage Food for thought for all those who want to represent the likes of me.

- In response to ex-councillor English, it is very easy to get to Trowbridge and back.
There is an excellent, frequent and reliable (as well as environmentally sustainable) train service.
