RBL parade and rededication service in Salisbury

First published in Postbag

ON Sunday, June 8 the Salisbury branch of the Royal British Legion is hosting the Wiltshire County RBL Annual Parade and Service of Rededication.

The parade will march from Market Walk through Blue Boar Row and New Canal to St Thomas’s Church, and will march off at 2.25pm headed by Shrewton Silver Band.

As this year of 2014 is the 100th anniversary of the Great War and the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings, it is of very special remembrance, and our county regiment, the Wiltshire Regiment (Duke of Edinburgh), was heavily involved in both conflicts.

The 4th and 5th Battalions landed in France on D plus 12 and were part of 43 Wessex Division who captured hill 112.

I want to make people in the area aware of the events.

RW Giddings, RBL Salisbury branch president
