Disappointing lack of election coverage
9:13am Thursday 5th June 2014 in Postbag
IT is disappointing to see the Journal’s coverage of last week’s European elections confined to a tiny article on page 15.
Much has been written about the levels of apathy reflected in poor turnout to vote in the elections (37 per cent in the south west), but this is reinforced by the paltry coverage of the result. In fact Salisbury is not only home to the successful Labour candidate, but it stood firm against the UKIP tide, and played its part in electing Molly Scott Cato as the SW region’s first Green MEP as well: much for the district to be proud of, and deserving of more attention than the Journal gave it.
