The countdown is now beginning for final entries to the Local Hero awards, jointly hosted by the Salisbury Journal and Spire FM in partnership with Wiltshire College.

There have been entires across all major categories but there is still time for a final push. In particular the judges are keen to attract more nominations for the Lifesaver Award and the Sports Award.

This is the 13th year of the awards and the final ceremony will take place at the Stones Hotel, Salisbury, on January 13th.

Bill Browne, editor and Publisher of the Salisbury Journal, said: "We’ve always been at the heart of the community and we want to celebrate the achievements of South Wiltshire and West Hampshire’s most inspirational people.

"But we can’t do that without you! If you know an unsung hero, young or old, professional or volunteer, who selflessly helps others or who is simply inspirational, nominate that remarkable person so we can give them an evening they’ll remember for the rest of their lives!"

If you have more than one hero in your life, nominate them all!
