'Lights off' Hampshire

HAMPSHIRE County Council has signed up to the Lights Out Hampshire' campaign which will see darkness spread across the county as people throughout Hampshire switch off all non-essential lights and appliances.

The county council will be showing its support by switching off lights for one hour at its Winchester Headquarters buildings as well as at Winchester Crown Court, The Discovery Centre, The Great Hall, Serles House and the Gladstone Street Car Park.

The event will coincide with Global Earth Hour which is between 8pm and 9pm on March 29.

The aim of Global Earth Hour is to encourage cities around the world to cut their carbon emissions.

The Hampshire switch-off is the culmination of Green Month on local radio stations Power FM and Ocean FM and during their month of specialist programming, Hampshire County Council staff provided valuable advice and tips to listeners and presenters on how to reduce their carbon footprint, for example by avoiding food waste, making smarter travel choices, flexible working and improving their recycling performance.

Almost half of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions, the main greenhouse gas which causes climate change, actually come from the things we do everyday.

Simple things such as leaving lights on unnecessarily or overfilling the kettle all waste energy and result in needless carbon dioxide emissions.

Other Hampshire buildings joining the big switch-off include Winchester Cathedral, the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, Southampton Guildhall, Civic Centre and clock tower, Skandia and WestQuay Shopping Centre in Southampton.

Quote:"Almost half of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions, the main greenhouse gas which causes climate change, actually come from the things we do everyday." - Government Tosh and Propaganda.

Hampshire will be much more vulnerable to crime without plenty of lighting. This is a futile, ridiculous and dangerous gesture.

Climate change is not man-made, Governments know it and scientists know it (but they want Government funding). It's a tax hike.

In context, the UK produces just 2% of the world's carbon emissions (DEFRA figure). The world CO2e emissions are under half a percent of the total atmospheric green house gasses. Who is Brown fooling? Too many it seems.

If the natural climate change makes the UK 2 to 5 deg Celsius warmer over the next 40 years, we will have a climate closer to that in the very places we jet off to on holiday. Also, less of our old people will die of hypothermia in winter.

Believe in anthropogenic climate change? You may as well believe in the tooth fairy or the Easter Bunny! It's a fuel tax hike and to make us take self-imposed austerity measures yet so many just take this government propaganda as scientific fact. It is a predictive theory basd on very weak assumptions. There are other scientific theories based on much more likely assumptions such as changes in solar activity. People need to stop following this flawed dogma and think for themselves! It is a convenience riddled with political agendas both national and international.

Meteorologists can only predict the high temperature for 3 days ahead with a 60:40 probability of being correct within 2 deg C. Brown's Stern Report predicts a 2 to 3 deg C temperature rise with 75:25 claimed probablity of being correct in 40 years time. What idiots are there in your parliament?

Scaremongering rife, British public run scared!!

One further point, Carbon Dioxide is not the "Main Greenhose Gas", Water Vapour and Cloud Formations are by far the most prevalent greenhouse gasses. This is a scientific fact and the climate modellers have no clue how to deal with it o they make very poor assumptions. As we cannot make any change to Water Vapour levels, they are largely ignored so the self-loathing public will blame themselves for natural climate changes which have gone on over millions of years.

The human race exhales over 2 billion tonnes of Carbon Dioxide each year. Shall we all stop breathing to please the Green Brown and Cycling Cameroon. The former has difficulty with his Math and the latter has trouble reading the Highway Code!!Neither of them would understand a climate model if it jumped up and bit them on the nose (not that the climate modellers do either).

A brave quote from the UK Meteorology Office:

"The data doesn't matter. We're not basing our recommendations upon the data. We're basing them upon the climate models"
