Girls take part in cricket event

TODAY will see Salisbury's first under-15, along with an under-13, Girls Inter-Cricket competitions at South Wilts Cricket Club.

The festival involves 11 teams from three schools, including South Wilts Grammar School, St Edmund's, and Stonehenge, and they will be playing from 12noon to 4pm.

The contest is supported by Salisbury District Council, the Wiltshire Cricket Board and South Wilts Cricket Club.

Karlene Jammeh, the district council's sports and community officer, said: "This is the first year we have organised an under-15 event.

"The district council has a vital role in offering a variety of sporting opportunities to all young people across the district, and is very successful in doing so. Cricket enables girls to take part in activity that requires and encourages teamwork, skill, fitness and co-ordination, and most importantly allows them to have fun."
