Art to raise money for African children
EDUCATION in Tanzania will be the beneficiary of a fundraising exhibition of African Art being held in Salisbury.
The exhibit, run by local charity EdUKaid, will feature sculptures from Tanzanian tribesman, which will be available both for purchase and viewing.
The exhibits will be available for viewing at the Fisherton Mill Gallery in Fisherton Street from May 23 to June 10, with the carvings on sale from as little as £15.
EdUKaid director Tim Dench said: "This is a very special one off opportunity for people in this country to see and learn about the Makonde tribe's world famous carvings.
"Every carving has been hand sculpted by fantastically skilled artists that our volunteers know and live alongside in Tanzania. Each is unique, beautiful and simply cannot be copied."
"The money raised from the sale of all the artwork will go directly to improve the education of the carvers' children and their neighbours' children through our work with the tribe in Tanzania."
