Raid nets £10,000 of cannabis
NEARLY four kilos of cannabis with an estimated street value of about £10,000 was seized by
police from a property in Old Sarum on Friday morning.
Warrants were executed at 6.30am and searches of the property by the neighbourhood policing team uncovered 3,427 grams of cannabis in the loft.
They also seized loft equipment and various other items under the Proceeds of Crime act, including
a widescreen television, a Nintendo Wii console, two computers and surround sound equipment.
Two people, a male and a female, were arrested on
suspicion of possession with intent to supply and have been released on police bail.
Karen Lawes, current acting sergeant for south rural, said the police were very pleased with the
result of the raid.
"The police took action from intelligence provided by the community and this is a positive
result of such information," she said.
PC Sara Murtagh, neighbourhood policing manager, explained that they also left fliers with
neighbours to make people aware of what had happened and to let them know the police are actively combating these crimes.
David McMullin, sector commander for Salisbury, urged anyone with any information about crimes such as this to contact Wiltshire Police
immediately through the 0845 408 7000 number,
Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, by email, by approaching PCSOs or by coming into the police station.
He added: "Any offenders need to know we will work tirelessly to remove them from the trade."
