A QUEEN Mother has been added to Wilton's royal family for this year's community carnival.
Margaret Helps was crowned at a special event held at the Edinburgh Woollen Mill in Wilton Shopping Village on Wednesday, and will be joined by Ann-Marie Kinsey (23), to be carnival queen with Georgia Musselwhite (9), as the princess.
The Judges said they were delighted with the response from the town and impressed with the enthusiasm of the applicants who attended.
"We are confident that Ann-Marie, Georgia and Margaret will be great representatives of Wilton."
There are still places left for the procession, led by the carnival royal family and the Mayor and Mayoress, through Wilton on July 5.
Professional judges will award prizes and certificates. The procession will assemble from 12.30pm in the lower field of the former Wilton Middle School. Entry forms are available from Wilton Library and Post Office or Marion Powell 01722 742925.
The carnival launches in Wilton Market Square on June 27 and 28, followed by carnival day on July 5.
