HQ Land Forces plans change
PLANS to house the whole of HQ Land Forces in a new building at Andover have changed.
HQ Land Command in Wilton and HQ Adjutant General in Upavon merged last month to form HQLF, and the original plan was to build new office accommodation at the Andover South site to house the whole headquarters.
It would have meant most staff moving in mid-2010, with the rest following as space became available.
However, an announcement that Defence Equipment and Support is to leave the Andover site by 2012 means HQLF will have access to an additional office block and a new build will not be needed.
According to the Army it remains likely that the Wilton site will not be needed for defence purposes and will be available for redevelopment. It is looking to vacate the site as soon as possible after mid-2010, although Upavon will be mothballed' until funding can be found to develop it for another Army use.
