Thug jailed for attack on girlfriend

A THUG who grabbed his exgirlfriend by the throat and threatened to kill her has been jailed for two years.

Salisbury Crown Court heard last Friday that Darryl Bulpitt, 22, went to Kerry Anne Moore's flat on June 14 to try to persuade her to take him back.

He grabbed her by the throat, threw her hard and punched her in the face, saying "die, die, if I can't have you, no one can".

The assault ended when Bulpitt's brother and a friend intervened. Bulpitt also went round the next day and said he wanted to kill her. There had been a previous incident of a similar nature on March 26.

Marian Langford, prosecuting, said it was extremely frightening for Miss Moore and she had been left with reddening of the skin on her face.

Defending, Tara Lyons said Bulpitt, of Westwood Road, Salisbury, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and in interview he made very full and frank admissions.

She said: "He thoroughly regrets and hates living with what he has done. His problems are likely to be long-standing, but he took steps to address his anger management when he was last in prison and wants further help to address his problems."

Judge Keith Cutler sentenced Bulpitt to two years in prison and a further two years supervision on licence for common assault, making threats to kill and criminal damage.
