HAMPSHIRE County Council has agreed to fund £13million concessionary travel for the over 60s and disabled people aged five to 60 next year.

From April 1, those aged over 60 will be entitled to free bus travel from 9am to 11pm, Monday to Friday, and at any time at the weekend.

Those over five years of age, who meet the criteria for a disabled pass, will be eligible for free bus travel all day without time restriction, together with a companion pass where they are unable to travel alone due to their disability.

They will also be entitled to half fare travel on defined community transport schemes.

Some 240,000 people in Hampshire have a bus pass or concessionary vouchers and in the last financial year 12,260,000 bus or community transport journeys were made by people using concessionary travel.
