FIGURES have revealed that the number of calls received by Hampshire Police on Bonfire Night has risen compared with last year.

Between 4pm and 11.59pm on Monday, November 5, 320 emergency calls to 999 and 961 calls to the non-emergency number, 101, were made.

The number of calls to both numbers rose by seven per cent this year, compared to last year, with 404 calls being made to 999 and 791 to 101 in 2011.

However, the number of 999 emergency calls dropped by 21 per cent this year.

Some 124 calls were incidents of antisocial behaviour – a drop of 78 incidents – compared with last year, when Bonfire Night was on a Saturday.
