STAR Wars, Toy Story and cartoon characters from all eras have been entertaining passers-by on two Salisbury estates.
Children and their parents have been hard at work creating scarecrows to make a trail around the Bishopdown Farm and Hampton Park estates in aid of Greentrees Primary School.
And their efforts, all based on a movie these, were on display around the estates at the weekend, with children from the school taking part in a competition to guess which character and film each scarecrow represented.
PTA co-chairman and organiser Hailey Edmonds said: “When I first had the idea I envisaged that we would have about 20 scarecrows and raise about £50 but it has been much better than that.
“We had lots of people around who weren’t just from the school but came out to have a look around. There was a real community feel to it, which was brilliant.”
The school is still collecting the answer sheets, and once they are all in, there will be prizes for the best and most recyclable scarecrow and the person who guessed the most films.
The event, which has so far raised £61, was such a success that the PTA is looking at repeating it next year.
