POLICE are appealing for information after a man conned staff at a Salisbury café out of £80.

A man went into Boston Tea Party in High Street on October 8 at 2pm and asked staff to change £200 worth of £10 notes into 20p pieces as he worked at a local shop and needed change.

They explained they did not have enough change and he then asked for £20 notes and managed to deceive the assistant out of £80.

Another man was with him and both are thought to be Romanian or Turkish.

Officers are asking stores to make all staff aware of the scam and said offenders in this type of scam often wait until the store is very busy and choose a young assistant to try to deceive.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the man pictured, who the police would like to speak to in connection with the incident, can contact PC Mark Welch on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
