GOMELDON School is celebrating its centenary this year and is appealing for help from former staff and pupils to bring its history back to life.

The governors would like to compile a small book of memoirs and old photographs showing the school over the last 100 years.

The school opened on January 21, 1913 with about 40 pupils, rising to about 140 today. A number of celebratory events have been planned, starting with an open day and special assembly on January 21, to which former staff and pupils are invited.

On the following Wednesday, January 23, the school is holding a Georgian day to celebrate the era in which the school was founded.

If anyone has any old photographs or stories about the school and would like to contribute them to the book then please contact Nikki Cook at n.cook@wessexarch.co.uk or call the school on 01980 611370.

Any items sent in will be returned to their owner after a digital copy has been made.
