A DECISION on whether a new home can be built on land off St Margaret’s Close in Salisbury has been deferred after concerns were raised about its impact on the area and access to the site.

Members of Wiltshire Council’s southern area planning committee voted at a meeting held on Thursday to go on a site visit before making a decision, after hearing from residents worried that the house would be overbearing, out of character and detrimental to people living nearby.

The site, to the rear of Fowlers Road and currently part of the garden area for a block of 16 flats, has been the subject of two previous planning applications for three homes and one for two homes, all of which were refused permission.

The application will be brought back before the committee at a date to be confirmed.
