STAFF at Salisbury District Hospital have been rewarded for their professionalism and commitment at an awards ceremony.
The Striving for Excellence Awards on Friday celebrated how individuals and departments have improved services for patients, with nominations from patients, staff, volunteers and members of the public.
Peter Hill, interim chief executive at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, said: “It’s so important that we continue to maintain our high standards and improve our facilities and services, and we couldn’t do this without the enormous commitment, skills and professionalism of our staff.”
Luke March, chairman of the trust, said: “Our staff continue to provide the very best care to our patients and I am constantly impressed by their innovation and the pride and care they take in looking after our patients. I am delighted to be able to highlight their wonderful achievements.”
Awards included: Chief Executive’s Leadership Award: Directorate senior nurse Colette Martindale
Chairman’s Outstanding Contribution Award: Helena Bridgman, clinical lead for cancer services
Unsung hero: Linda Harris, vascular unit manager
Customer Care Team Award: The Endoscopy Unit
Customer Care Individual Award: Ian Downie, consultant maxilla facial and oral surgery
The Service Improvement Individual and Team Award: urology nurses
The Service Improvement Sponsored Project Award: the discharge team
Pinder Mentorship Award: Shantimole Mathew, a staff nurse on Avon Ward
Governors’ Volunteer Award: Shirley Howson, a volunteer in the Nunton Unit
Equality and Diversity Award: The Retinal Screening Team
