HAMPSHIRE residents are set to get better access to the countryside with ageing or high stiles earmarked for replacement.
The Stiles2Gates scheme will see stiles substituted with gates or kissing gates to enable easier access for children and residents with limited mobility.
The project will see at least 50 stiles taken out across the county next year. Five gates have already been installed on Breamore Estate.
The project is supported by South Downs and New Forest Nation-al Park Authorities, and funded from Hampshire County Council’s Community Challenge Fund. To report a damaged stile go to countryside@ hants.gov.uk or call 0845 6035636.
