Antiques shop hit by burglars
1:00pm Tuesday 27th November 2012 in News By Hannah White
AN antique shop in Salisbury that changed ownership three weeks ago was targeted by burglars who smashed the window and stole goods from the window display.
The window of Ancient and Modern, in Fisherton Street, was smashed using a piece of flint between 6pm on Tuesday, November 20 and 7.30am the following morning.
Three items were stolen including two dark wooden Chinese figures, one just over four inches tall and the other just over six inches tall, both priced at £50. The third item was a dark green soapstone Chinese figure which was about 16ins tall, heavy, and priced at £425.
Owner Marc Eidlestein said: “Three things were taken, leaving more expensive, accessible items untouched. Evidently the thief knew what he wanted rather than a traditional smash and grab.”
“It’s a bit gutting when something like this happens,” he added.
Anyone with information can contact Salisbury Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
